The Internationally Educated Teacher Projects were created to inform new Canadians with a teaching background about the process of teaching in Ontario. The experience and scholarship many Internationally Educated Teachers can bring in to Ontario schools cannot be underestimated. Our schools must be engaging on the most effective practices that prepare Canadian students to a world experiencing unparalleled change. This change is reaffirming the notion of how strongly interconnected and interdependent the world has become. "The Global Village” is already here.

Fully utilizing internationally trained educators in our schools will enhance Canada's competitiveness towards a leadership role in the new economy. The globalization phenomena demands that our training institutions prepare our students emotionally, socially and intellectually to thrive in such a global village environment. An inclusive and well-rounded curriculum delivered by a diverse and competent staff will have a strong impact in how comfortable our students can operate, compete and excel in a world whose distant and exotic corners have become closer neighbors.

This site will provide information on the process towards becoming a teacher in Ontario. Not every internationally trained teacher will meet the basic criteria to apply for certification and in such cases advice on alternative employment are suggested. With that note we welcome you again and wish all of you a successful journey towards utilizing your teaching background in Ontario.
